Hoff's Scotch Cap Angus Genetics
"
Scotch Cap at a Glance"

• Doug and Molly A.I.’d their first cows in 1965.

• All of the bulls sold through every Scotch Cap Angus bull sale since inception have averaged $3,625.  This average doesn’t include many of the most famous bulls such as Scotch Cap, Band 105 SC, Trail Boss, Westwind, Hi FLyer, Limited Edition, Axehandle, Marbolier, Victory, Investor, Charger, and many others that were held back from sales.

• Gross receipts from the last 13 Scotch Cap sales add up to over $8.3 million. All of this from a 350- head cowherd, which has very deservedly earned the reputation of America’s top income-producing herd.

• Scotch Cap has consistently had the breed’s top averaging bull sale for over 100 head.

• Scotch Cap has produced several of the breed’s leading bulls for growth, marbling, and REA.

• Scotch Cap sires have led the breed for total registrations and have been responsible for up to 10 percent of the total annual Angus registrations.

• The Scotch Cap breeding program is unaffected by purebred fads and trends and has a clear focus on traits that are economically important to the industry.

• Records are made to be broken and nearly every imaginable Angus record has been broken at Scotch Cap, sometimes several times over.

• Scotch Cap was among the first to pioneer the use of AHIR and make breeding decisions based on National Sire Evaluation.

• Scotch Cap was among the first to recognize that all facets of the industry need to work together in our industry to survive. Through this understanding they developed Angus America, a service company helping hundreds of commercial breeders market their cattle and improve the quality of the end product.

• “Chapters of Angus history have been written by the Scotch Cap herd and those chapters will forever influence the genetics and future events of the entire beef cattle industry.”

• 50 Scotch Cap bred bulls on 2004 National Sire Evaluation are breed average for birth weight, 20% above average for weaning rate, 15% above average for milk and 25% above breed average for growth.  –Tom Burke–
